Did you know that there are specific poses that can help cool your body down?

Mosaic Yoga held within the business The Local Co-op is a lovely place to practice.

  1. It has AIR CONDITIONING!

  2. Everything else is really cool and awesome!

Great Cooling Poses:

Lion’s breath

It’s Leo season, which means we should celebrate the lion in all of us by practicing our roar. The lion’s breath opens the throat chakra and releases stress, and also gives you the chance to let your silly side out. This breath is the perfect way to wish a Happy Birthday to all the Leos in your life, (Just kidding, they might be a little concerned!)

Boat pose

Now is the time to go out on the water, and there’s no better way to prepare then by practicing boat pose. Boat pose is a great workout for your core and it also helps improve your balance. See if you can relax while holding the pose – You’ll feel like you’re chilling on a cruise vacation!

Dolphin pose

When I’m taking a walk on the beach, I always hope to see some dolphins jumping in and out of the ocean. Dolphin is a great pose to work on because it helps with the flexibility of your spine, hamstrings and calves. After you practice this challenging pose, cool down by jumping in a pool or going under the sea like the dolphins do!

Downward dog

When it gets hot out, I tend to see a lot of dogs sunbathing outside. Once they get up to take a break from the sun, they love to stretch out in down dog pose. Downward dog increases full body circulation and strengthens the entire back – Plus it just feels so good to stretch this way after you’ve been laying down for a long time.

Fish pose

If you go camping this summer, you’ll probably see some fish swimming around in a nearby lake. I included this heart opening pose because I love how it feels to open up my chest and work on my posture. Since this pose stretches the front of the body, I’ve noticed that it feels great to end my practice with this pose. It’s the perfect way to let it go at the end of a hot day.
